  • It really is the simple things;

    I was in the shower last Sunday morning when the curtain pulled back and my wife handed me my one year old grandson.  Typically, if you can get him to hold still for more than 10 seconds you can consider yourself lucky.  This time, however, he snuggled close to me, laid his head on my shoulder, and we let the warm water pour over us for fifteen minutes or so.  I could have stayed like that for a much longer time.  Like "the man" said, "It doesn't get any better than that".

  • That is completely and absolutely the best of moments, isn't it?  Along the same lines, and in response to your comment, when they come to you all "warm and wanting," that's when you feel completely absolved of all the irritation they've been pouring on you -- and you tend, of course, to absolve them of their juvenile idiocies, too (smart little critters, them).  The snuggling up and laying-of-the-head is the warmest of those moments, I find.  No matter how tired I am, when she does that Ms. 4 has me in thrall.

    (I see, incidentally, that your hot water heater does scads better than ours.  Fifteen minutes?  We would've both been freezing our parts off, in my house! )

  • Yeah, that's a great feeling.

  • Wonderful moments

  • That brought tears to my eyes.  I used to love that - holding my babies in the shower or handing them in to their dad.

  • Thanks for sharing. I couldn't agree more.
